The browser-based Microsoft Project Web App is available both in Microsoft Project Server and in Project Online.
Those functions can only be used with this version of the software. This is important, as new functions are made available in Project Online on a regular basis. Instead, it is obtained and updated from the Microsoft Cloud.
It can be used as a standalone tool but also in connection with Project Server “on-premises” or Project Online. Project Online Desktop Client is the cloud version of Microsoft Project Professional. In the classic installation process, your IT administration uses local installation packages. This version is the basis for working in a multi-project environment with an on-premises Project Server and Project Online. Project Professional can be used as a standalone tool. It does not enable connection to Microsoft Project Server / Project Online. It is not meant for use across departments or projects. If you are generating this file programatically you may find MPXJ helpful.Project Standard is a standalone tool. There are a few odd settings required (for example, ProjectExternallyEdited, IsNull and so on) but the main difference is that I've specified the amount of work on both the task and the resource assignment. MS Project can be quite specific about what it wants to see in an XML file to get the results you are after. Why is that? Is there something missing (maybe a definition of calendar or some additional attributes of the task or assignment to resource?) When I import this to MS Project, it doesn't import the Start and Finish dates from the task and sets the duration to "0 days?". Can someone give me an example of a XML file which can be imported to MS Project, which would contain one task planned for some period of time and one resource? I currently have this following XML, MS Project imports it without any error, but the schedule becomes all messed up.
